Our journey began in 1995, when ASP Distributors (Pty) Ltd opened up in South Africa, in partnership with Spar. With a national infrastructure, ASP pioneered multi-temperature distribution within the South African Quick Service Restaurant industry.
A management buy-out in 2003 led to the establishment of Digistics (Pty) Ltd. With an aggressive growth plan, the company secured a number of new, long-standing contracts.
Due to significant growth over a short space of time, the decision was made to bring a partner on board. 51% of the shares was sold to Super Group Holdings in 2012, making the business a Super Group subsidiary company. In 2017, Super Group bought out the balance of the remaining shareholding.
Digistics now operates out of seven Distribution Centers in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Johannesburg and Pretoria and has become a significant player in leading multi-temperature distribution operations throughout South Africa.
Being part of our children’s future, is fundamental to our thinking. Playing a role in creating a sustainable future is therefore critical, and this is why reducing our carbon footprint is key to our community involvement. Each of our Distribution Centres has an environmental scorecard, tracking the amount of material we recycle and reuse, our energy and fuel consumption, as well as our landfill contribution. All our Distribution Centers have an environmental management system and are on their way to ISO 14001 certification. This certificate is an international recognised benchmark for sustainability.
No business can exist without strong communities. It is therefore important that we do our part to make these communities stronger. We believe we have a unique role to play in feeding a nation, and we therefore support various charities, as well as our customers charities. We also provide skilled jobs, understand and appreciate the importance of family, and we offer opportunities to those looking to challenge themselves and serve as ambassadors of our values within their community. We know that safety on the road leads to safety in the community. It all starts with extensive training and a focus on extending the operating life of all our assets.
